La Gomera is an ideal place for watching cetaceans. 21 species have been documented in waters of La Gomera making it one of the most species-rich habitats in Europe. The most common species you can observe in La Gomera are: the Short-beaked common dolphin, the Bottlenose dolphin, the Rough-toothed dolphin and the Short-finned pilot whale. Large whales like blue, fin and sei whale are quite rare crossing the Canary Islands only in spring and autumn during their seasonal migrations.
