Hike : In the lush laurel forest
Our hike starts near “Roque Agando”, an impressive volcanic plug at the entrance to “Garajonay” National Park. From here we have fantastic views over the island. Under a closed crown of enormous trees we hike on silent paths through the ancient laurel forest full of lush vegetation and majestic ferns. Passing by the chapel “Ermita de Lourdes” in the heart of the forest we follow a small stream into the hamlet “El Cedro”, where nowadays only a handful people live. In the mountain hut “Las Vistas” we can rest and try the typical and excellent watercress soup. Afterwards we return walking uphill and then quite steeply downhill through an area of laurel forest full of mosses and lichens. We drive back to San Sebastián by the north road.
