Day 1 – the North of the Island: Whilst exploring the northern half of the island with its backdrop of spectacular mountain views, we find out about the cultivation of the banana, the traditional handicraft production of the north, the Chorros de Epina spring famous for its medicinal properties…..and much more. |
Day 2 – the South of the Island: On the second day we get to know the southern half of the island, visiting the small fishing village of Playa de Santiago, the pottery centre of El Cercado and the Tierra del Pan, an area traditionally dedicated to cereal cultivation where now shepherds graze their sheep and goats. |
It is possible to make a reservation for lunch at a typical local restaurant and try traditional dishes such as almogrote cheese paste, papas arrugadas ( jacket potatoes boiled in sea salt) accompanied by mojo sauce and, of course, the delicious palm honey. These tours can be combined with a short walk through the unique Canarian laurel forest. |
