Hike: The Island’s Granery (Difficulty: medium)

We invite you to discover the wide slopes of the southwest of La Gomera that extend towards the sea broken by immense ravines that only during winter carry water in their beds. On our hiking tour you learn what life was like in the countryside, the cultivation of cereals, agriculture, grazing and traditional pottery. Our walk starts with a gentle descent along an old path that communicated the remote settlements with the cultivation areas. We walk alongside a water channel, nowadays in disuse, where we will be able to appreciate the difficulties that life in the countryside meant for the Gomeros. Leaving the ravine, we ascend through former cultivated farm terraces until we reach the village of El Cercado. Here we can see how the potters continue to make their pots in the traditional way without using a potter's wheel.
